Research has always been a challenge for me and I have actively pursuit innovation and excellence in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). As a postdoctoral researcher and academic, my research interests have a strong focus on Networks and Services Management. In particular, my current activities focus on:
- policy-based and autonomic management of next generation networks
- protection of critical infrastructure systems and networks
As a postdoctoral researcher at Kios Research Center, I am mainly involved in the area of Critical Infrastructure Systems (CIS). In the context of COST Action IntelliCIS (Intelligent Monitoring, Control and Security of Critical Infrastructure Systems), I have been involved in the activities for the protection of Communication Networks and the mitigation of their interdependencies with the Power Grid. KIOS will be coordinating a Networking session , titled “Trustworthy Critical Infrastructure Systems”, to be held at the “ICT 2010” event. This is Europe\’s most visible forum for ICT research and innovation, organised by the Information Society of the European Commission in Brussels.
In parallel to my main research activities, I am involved as a Management Committee Member (MCM) in COST action IS0605 Econ@Tel “A Telecommunications Economics COST Network”. As a representative of Cyprus, I regularly participate in MCM meetings and workshops , while I am actively engaged in WG4: “Network Management Architectures and Economics”. In the context of Econ@Tel, I was assigned as the Chair of the 1st Econ@Tel PhD Training School, titled “Techno-economics of Mobile Networks and the Internet” and was responsible for the programme development and coordination. The 3-day programme was approved as an official 3 ECTS PhD course of Aalborg University and a wide audience of about 40 early stage researchers had attended. Teaching young engineers and providing them with skills and knowledge is an aspiring opportunity for creative thinking.
