KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks is organizing a networking session at “ICT 2010”, titled “Trustworthy Critical Infrastructure Systems”. This session will be an open discussion on intelligent control and security of Critical Infrastructure Systems with key players from academia and industry. The biennial “ICT 2010” event is hailed as “Europe\’s most visible forum for ICT research and innovation”, gathering an audience of over 4000 attendants. The event will be hosted at Brussels Expo and the session takes place in Room T010 on Wednesday 29/09/2010 (9:00-10:30). Feel free to join and discuss with us the future of  Critical Infrastructure Systems.

Our modern lifestyle is increasingly dependent on technical infrastructures, such as power transmission or water distribution networks. The robust operations involved in delivering these are often taken for granted. But think what the effects on the European economy and society, and on our health and safety would be if these systems were disrupted or even destroyed. This session will discuss how to protect them, the overall objective being to actively engage all stakeholders in research, development and innovation activities. Participants from the disciplines of ICT, economics, risk management and the law will enable interactions between an elemental (bottom-up) and a systemic (top-down) approach in moving towards trustworthy critical infrastructure systems.

KIOS organises the networking session with the European Organisation for Security (EOS), an industry association of European private sector providers of technology solutions and services from all relevant domains of the security sector. The session is also supported by COST Action IC0806 IntelliCIS (Intelligent Monitoring, Control & Security of Critical Infrastructure Systems) and FP7 STREP Project INSPIRE (INcreasing Security and Protection through Infrastructure Resilience)
